# Companion eSIM plans for Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch

How a companion plan lets your smartwatch take calls and use data on its own, using your existing mobile number.

A companion eSIM plan connects your cellular Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch to the mobile network in its own right, using the same mobile number as your phone. Leave your phone behind while you exercise, run errands or head out, and still take calls, stay reachable and use your watch's emergency and location-sharing features.

## What's included

- **1GB of data each month** just for your watch. It's separate from your phone plan's data and can't be shared. Most watches use around 100MB a month, so 1GB goes a long way.
- **Unlimited standard national calls**, in line with your phone plan.
- **One number** - calls to your mobile ring on your phone and watch at the same time, and calls from your watch show your usual number.
- **Download speeds of up to 100Mbps.**

## Good to know

- **Messaging works through apps.** Companion plans don't include standard SMS or MMS on the watch, so use messaging apps such as iMessage or WhatsApp instead.
- **Australia only.** Companion plans can't be used overseas, and international roaming isn't available. If your watch has Wi-Fi, some features such as notifications may still work over Wi-Fi.
- **If you use all 1GB**, your watch's mobile data pauses until your next billing period. There are no excess data charges, and unused data doesn't roll over.
- **Usage alerts** - we'll email you when your watch has used 50%, 85% and 100% of its data. Alerts go to the email address on your mobile service, so make sure your notification settings include email.
- **One watch per mobile service.** To use a different watch, you swap it over rather than adding a second one.
- **It depends on your phone plan.** If your mobile service is suspended, your companion plan is suspended too. If your mobile service is cancelled or your number is ported to another provider, the companion plan is cancelled automatically.

## Billing

A companion plan is a monthly add-on to your mobile service, shown as its own line on your bill, with a one-month minimum term. Like your mobile plan fee, it's charged monthly in advance.

Your first bill may include a part-month charge from your activation date to the 27th as well as the next month in advance, plus a one-off eSIM charge. If you cancel part-way through a billing period, that month's charge isn't refunded.
