# Setting up your mobile data (APN) settings if it's not working automatically

The APN and MMS settings to enter if your phone doesn't set up mobile data automatically.

Most phones set up mobile data automatically once your SIM is active. Occasionally, particularly on older or imported phones, you'll need to enter the Access Point Name (APN) settings yourself.

## Before you start

- Make sure your phone is unlocked and running the latest software.
- Turn Wi-Fi off, so you can tell whether mobile data is working.

1. **Check for an automatic prompt** - Many phones offer to configure settings automatically when a new SIM is detected. Accept this if it appears.
2. **Find the APN settings** - Go to your phone's mobile network settings, look for "Access Point Names" or "APN", and add a new APN.
3. **Enter the settings below** - Only add these if your APN wasn't set up automatically. Leave any field not listed blank.
4. **Save and restart your phone** - Select the new APN, save it, then restart your phone.

## APN settings

- **APN name:** Mobile Data
- **APN:** mdata.net.au
- **Username and password:** leave blank
- **MCC:** 505
- **MNC:** 01
- **APN type:** default,dun,supl,mms

## MMS settings

- **MMSC:** http://mmsc.mdata.net.au:8003
- **MMS proxy:** 10.1.1.180
- **MMS port:** 80
- **MMS protocol:** WAP 2.0

If you use your phone as a hotspot or modem and it asks for an APN, use mdata.net.au.

iPhones set up mobile data automatically and usually don't need these settings. If data still doesn't work after entering them, check your SIM has been fully activated, then contact us.
