Are Lightning IP mobile plans contract or month-to-month?
Lightning IP mobile plans are month to month with no lock-in contract. Here's what that means for changing plans, cancelling and your bill.
All Lightning IP mobile plans are month-to-month, with no lock-in contract and no exit fees if you decide to leave.
Leaving part-way through a billing period
You can cancel your mobile service or move your number to another provider at any time. Your plan fee is charged in advance, so once a billing period has started, the full monthly charge for that period applies. There's no partial refund for the days remaining.
This is because your plan's inclusions, like your data allowance, are monthly and available in full from the first day of each billing period. For example, you could use your entire data allowance in the first few days and then move to another provider.
Any usage outside your plan in your final period, such as automatic data top-ups or international calls, is charged on your final bill.
Your mobile billing period
Mobile services run on a fixed period from the 28th of one month to the 27th of the next. This period is set by our mobile network wholesaler, so it's slightly offset from the billing period for other Lightning IP services, such as your internet.
You'll still receive a single bill for all your services, issued on the 1st of each month.
For example, if you cancel your mobile service on 10 March, the plan fee you've already paid for the period from 28 February to 27 March isn't refunded.
