How to turn off voicemail

Turning voicemail off if you'd rather unanswered calls just ring out.

If you'd prefer unanswered calls not to go to voicemail, you can turn off the call diversions that send them there.

  1. Open your call settings On iPhone, go to Settings, then Apps, then Phone, then Call Forwarding. On Android, open the Phone app, then Settings, then Calls or Supplementary services, then Call forwarding.
  2. Turn off call forwarding to voicemail Switch off forwarding when busy, unanswered and unreachable. Alternatively, dial each of these codes and press call: ##67# (busy), ##61# (no answer) and ##62# (unreachable).
  3. Test it Call your number from another phone and let it ring out.

With voicemail off, unanswered calls simply ring out, and callers can't leave a message. To turn it back on, contact us, or turn call forwarding to 101 back on in the same settings. If you'd like your voicemail box removed completely, contact us and we'll turn it off along with your call diversions, so callers don't hear an error message.

On an iPhone running iOS 18 or later, Apple's Live Voicemail can still answer missed calls even with your diversions off. To stop it, go to Settings, then Apps, then Phone, and turn off Live Voicemail.
