Managing your companion eSIM plan

Cancelling your companion plan, swapping watches, getting a new phone, and what to do if your watch is lost.

Most changes to a companion plan are made from the watch app on your phone, the same place you set it up.

Cancelling your companion plan

  1. Open your watch app The Watch app on iPhone, or the Galaxy Wearable app on Samsung, then go to your mobile plan settings.
  2. Tap Manage Telstra Account Don't tap Remove Telstra Plan (see below).
  3. Select your watch and tap Remove Choose your connected watch from the device list.
  4. Tap Accept & Remove Device Review the details to confirm the cancellation.

You can also contact us and we'll cancel it for you, either straight away or on a date you choose.

Once cancelled, your watch can no longer make calls or use data away from your phone. If you cancel part-way through a billing cycle, that month's charge isn't refunded.

Tapping Remove Telstra Plan, or deleting the eSIM from your watch, removes the plan from the watch but doesn't cancel your subscription - you'll keep being charged. Always cancel with Manage Telstra Account, or contact us.

Reconnecting later

If you set up a companion plan again after cancelling, a new monthly charge and a one-off eSIM charge apply from the day you reconnect. If you reconnect within 28 days, your previous companion profile may be restored. After 28 days, you'll set up a completely new companion plan.

Swapping to a new watch

Pair your new watch with your phone, then follow the same setup steps as when you first activated. Setup will recognise the watch already on your plan and ask you to confirm removing it before adding the new one. The new watch must be the same brand as your phone. A one-off eSIM charge applies for the new watch.

Getting a new phone

A companion plan can't move across to a new phone on its own, even if it's the same brand.

  1. Cancel your companion plan Use the steps above on your old phone, or contact us.
  2. Unpair your watch from your old phone
  3. Pair your watch with your new phone Connect them by Bluetooth as usual.
  4. Set up a new companion plan Follow the setup steps for your Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch.

If your new phone isn't an iPhone or a Samsung phone, your companion plan won't work with it, but it will keep being charged until it's cancelled - so cancel it before you switch, or contact us.

If your watch is lost or stolen

Cancel your companion plan from the watch app on your phone to stop the charges - a companion plan can't be suspended on its own. Then contact us and we can block the watch from being used on the mobile network.

Changes to your mobile service

  • Moving to another 5G plan - your companion plan carries on as normal.
  • Moving to a 4G-only plan - you'll need to cancel your companion plan first.
  • Changing your mobile number - your companion plan isn't affected.
  • Suspending your mobile service - your companion plan is suspended too, and charges continue for both.
  • Cancelling or porting your number away - your companion plan is cancelled automatically.
