Storm season puts real pressure on regional networks — power outages, physical damage and increased fault volumes all spike at once. A little preparation goes a long way.
Know your backup power situation
Most modems and routers stop working the moment mains power drops, even if the internet connection itself is fine. A small UPS (uninterruptible power supply) can keep your equipment running through short outages.
Have a mobile backup plan
A 4G or 5G backup connection means eftpos, bookings and customer communication can keep running even if your primary line goes down.
Test your setup before the season starts
- Confirm your UPS actually holds a charge
- Check your backup SIM has an active plan, not just a dormant card
- Make sure staff know how to switch over if needed
What we do on our end
We monitor network health proactively during severe weather events and prioritise fault response in affected areas. If you do lose service, report it early — the sooner a fault is logged, the sooner it's queued for repair.
