What is Sky Muster?

Sky Muster serves homes and businesses too remote for any other nbn™ technology, using dedicated satellites to beam broadband to a dish installed at your property. It's the only nbn option in many rural and remote areas.

A satellite dish is professionally installed with a clear view of the sky and connected to an NTD and modem inside. Because signals travel to space and back, satellite has higher latency than other technologies, and a Fair Use Policy keeps the service usable for everyone sharing the satellite.

Could you get Fixed Wireless?

If your address can also get Fixed Wireless, it will usually give you a better experience than satellite. Check your address and we'll show you every option available.

Trusted by the communities we serve

After years with the big providers, switching to Lightning IP was night and day. When I had a connection issue during a work day, I spoke to a real person within two minutes. They fixed it and followed up the next day. That kind of service does not exist with the big companies.

Frequently asked questions

Sky Muster serves homes and businesses too remote for any other nbn™ technology. If your address can also get Fixed Wireless, that will usually give you a better experience than satellite, and we'll let you know when you check your address.

Satellite capacity is more limited than other nbn™ technologies, so Sky Muster plans come with a Fair Use Policy to keep the service usable for everyone sharing the satellite. If your usage is unusually high compared to other users on the same beam, your speed may be temporarily managed during busy periods. Scheduling large downloads for off-peak hours helps you get the most out of your plan.

Satellite has noticeably higher latency than other nbn™ technologies because signals travel to space and back. It's well suited to browsing, email and streaming, but real-time activities like video calls and online gaming can feel less responsive.

There is no minimum term. All of our plans are month-to-month, so you are never locked in. You can upgrade, downgrade, suspend, or cancel your service at any time without penalty fees.

Depending on the service ordered, there may be additional up-front charges, which are set out in our terms and policies. These can include phone line activation, copper line installation, lead-in or additional cabling, equipment, missed appointment fees and complex on-site work.

nbn Co may also charge a one-off new development fee for deploying network infrastructure to new premises.
