More reliable internet

Internet you can count on, every day

Fewer dropouts, faster fixes and a local team who picks up the phone — practical ways to make your connection more dependable.

Reliability is more than speed

Many "dropouts" are really Wi-Fi problems — weak coverage in some rooms, or a modem in the wrong spot. Mesh Wi-Fi fixes a lot of them.

For businesses, Business Priority nbn™ adds an enhanced SLA for faster fault rectification, Enterprise Fibre gives you a dedicated connection with contracted service levels, and a 4G Backup Service can keep your site online while your fixed connection is down. When something does go wrong, check our outages page, then call our local team.

Ways to improve reliability

  • Fix Wi-Fi black spots with mesh Wi-Fi
  • Choose a plan with an enhanced SLA
  • Add a 4G Backup Service for failover
  • Check the outages page before troubleshooting

Frequently asked questions

An enhanced service level agreement (eSLA) is a commitment between us and your business about how quickly faults are fixed. It gives you faster rectification of faults within our control, and a wider window of time during which those faults can be worked on.

An SLA sets restoration targets rather than guaranteeing zero downtime. If your business can't tolerate any downtime, pair your plan with a backup connection.

Yes. Our 4G Backup Service keeps your site online on the Optus mobile network while your fixed internet service is down. It's sold alongside a Lightning IP internet service at the same premises, includes a 10 GB soft limit each billing period, and we waive excess usage caused by a genuine outage.

Failover isn't instant or seamless - existing connections drop while it switches over - so talk to our team about whether it suits your site.

Outages can be caused by network faults, scheduled maintenance, third-party carrier issues, or extreme weather. Where known, the cause is listed on the individual incident page.

How to review a business that smashes your expectations and leaves the best the competition can do in an archaic time? I waited 17 days for Telstra to deliver me a modem for my business and every time I called they had no progress. I decided I had enough, I call Lightning IP and within 30 minutes I had internet setup at my premises. Seriously ridiculous customer service. It's customer service you can get from small, privately owned business. If I could give them 50/5 I would.
