How long does it take to connect a new nbn service?
Typical timeframes from placing your nbn order to going live, what can add time, and how we keep you updated along the way.
Connection timeframes vary depending on whether a technician appointment is required and how busy nbn Co's installation schedule is in your area.
Typical timeframes
If your address already has an existing nbn connection and no appointment is needed, your service can typically be activated on the same day you order, sometimes within 30 minutes.
An address requiring a technician appointment usually takes one to three weeks, and new developments or premises with no existing infrastructure can take significantly longer.
What can extend the timeframe
High demand for appointments in your area, complex cabling requirements, strata or landlord approval needs, and new estates awaiting nbn Co infrastructure builds can all add time.
We'll give you our best estimate at the time you order, and update you if anything changes.
