What to expect during an nbn technician installation
What happens when the nbn technician arrives, how long the visit usually takes, where the equipment goes and what you'll need to have ready.
An nbn Co technician installation typically takes between one and four hours, depending on your technology type and how straightforward the cabling is.
- Site assessment The technician confirms the best location to install equipment, usually near your switchboard, garage or an existing phone/cable point.
- Cabling and equipment installation They run any necessary cabling and install the nbn Connection Box (sometimes referred to as an NTD, or Network Termination Device) or antenna.
- Testing The technician tests the connection to confirm it's working correctly before leaving.
- Your modem setup Once the nbn Connection Box is active, you (or the technician, in some cases) connect your modem/router.
Someone aged 18 or over needs to be present for the full appointment, as the technician may need access to different areas of the property.
